How Memo-PauseTM was born

I have to write things down, or I'll forget them.  I was the kid who showed up at school without her lunch  or her gym clothes or that vital permission slip at least once a week.  And it's only gotten worse as I've gotten older.  Before I created Memo-PauseTM, I had pads of paper and notes written on scraps everywhere--in my purse, in my car, my office, the bedroom.  Yet when I got to the grocery store, I couldn't find my list.  When I wanted a certain phone number, I might have to search the house to find where I wrote it down.

I've tried electronic organizers.  Besides being slow to type on, I always seemed to run out of batteries at a crucial time.  Or it would be in my purse ... and my purse would be in another room.  Finally, out of sheer frustration, I started carrying a notebook around my neck at all times.

The notebook made my life easier.  But it was ugly.

At lunch one day, my friend Rebecca Russell suggested I make the notebook prettier.  "Tart it up," she said.  "You could sell them."  Another friend, Victoria Chancellor, was also at that fateful lunch.  We brainstormed a name for this product and came up with Memo-PauseTM (any woman of a .. ahem ... certain age will get the joke).  We all laughed until iced tea came out our noses, and that night I blogged about it because it was funny.

I got this incredible outpouring of interest from other women, all of whom said, "If you did sell that product, I would buy one."  So I decided what the heck, and I went to work creating the thing.

It's been a lot of trial-and-error with the design but also an incredible amount of fun, and Memo-PauseTM is now in production.  Many thanks to my inspirations Vicki and Becky!

All best,
